The Coffee Joint is now approved but not exactly what you think it’s approved for. Denver Approved Social Marijuana License for The Coffee Joint happened in late February 2018. This allows The Coffee Joint who has the first Denver Approved Social Marijuana License to allow customers to vape and consume edibles on site. This does not allow people to smoke marijuana inside.
In 2016 there was a voter approved initiative that passed offering the opportunity to have a social marijuana license. This essentially was thought of by the layman to allow people to smoke marijuana in a coffee shop type setting similar to the culture found in Amsterdam. The idea is to go to a coffee shop, order a drink, maybe a pastry and perhaps some marijuana. In Amsterdam, the consumer can smoke marijuana in a coffee shop. But this is not the same here in Denver, at least for now. A Denver Approved Social Marijuana License is allowing a customer to use a vaporizer and also allows for an individual 21 and over to consume edibles. The issue is that you can’t smoke inside!
So what happens next!? How difficult is it to obtain a Denver Approved Social Marijuana license? Once received, will there be an opportunity to open up smoking, but outdoors at your facility? There are so many questions looming around this new opportunity in Denver. This is an exciting time to see the evolution of the legalization of marijuana. Denver is clearly paving the way for a complete cultural transformation not just in Denver, but also the United States. Eventually, we will start to create a directory category just for this new type Coffee Shop or whatever the new term will become!
