Cannabis legalization growing popularity among all generations is a topic of conversation amongst politicians in the United States.  In the most current Presidential race, Gary Johnson who is running on the libertarian ticket is backing cannabis legalization.   Other politicians such as former Governor of Minnesota Jessie Ventura is behind and has been in support for years of legalization of cannabis.  Cannabis legalization is growing popularity in the mainstream and should be more of a discussion during this Presidential election as it’s a clear social issue.

Jessie Ventura wrote a book call “Jesse Ventura’s Marijuana Manifesto” which promotes the legalization of marijuana.

According to a CNBC article, they indicated that Ventura does not differentiate between recreational and medical marijuana.  He’s supporting the legalization of cannabis and therefore supporting the movement in Colorado.  He’s describing a scenario where cannabis has helped seizures.

The article from CNBC illustrates the tax revenue Colorado has received from the legalization of cannabis.  It indicates Colorado to generate approximately 140 million dollars in tax revenue.  This is up from just two years ago when the state generated just over 50 million dollars in tax revenue.  This is a significant increase in revenue in just two years and many other States are looking at this number.  With the legalization of medical cannabis making it legal in Colorado, the state has clearly profited.

The most recent move by the Federal Government not changing marijuana from a Schedule 1 Drug Classification only helps the Colorado Economy.  However, the negative here is that by not changing classification of medical cannabis or cannabis as Mr. Ventura describes since per his view there’s no difference hurts the opportunity for government scientific funding to learn more about the positives and negatives of cannabis.  Here, if the United States Federal Government were to change the schedule and significant funding was offered, the opportunity to help more with seizures and other health conditions would only help our nationwide and worldwide societies.  Cannabis legalization growing popularity is a movement and revolution that is not slowing down and here to stay for a long time going forward.

Jesse Ventura was born in 1951 and was the former Governor of Minnesota from 1999-2003.  Prior to being elected Governor, he served as Mayor of Brooklyn, Minnesota from 1991 – 1995.  During his time serving as Governor, Ventura openly supported the use of Medical Marijuana.  Since his time in office as Governor, he has continued his path in the support of cannabis as described in the CNBC article.
