Cancer is a term that has a connotation of something that is horrible and potentially death related, yet also something that can be beat.  It is a disease that sometimes can be beat, but sometimes it can kill you.  Cancer can occur nearly anywhere within a human body.  Cancer can cause a tumor in the body.  Cancer can also be found in human blood.  A tumor is essentially a swelling in the body and it can be either benign or malignant.  Benign is non-cancerous and typically does not spread while malignant is cancerous and can spread in the body.  A common treatment dealing with cancer is chemotherapy and a result of chemotherapy can be nausea and vomiting.  Pain can also occur with cancer and therefore some patients have found relief by the usage of medical marijuana to help with nausea, vomiting and pain.  There are more than 100 different types of cancer and here are some of them:

  • Carcinoma
  • Sarcoma
  • Leukemia
  • Lymphoma
  • Multiple Myeloma
  • Melanoma

  • What types of treatment are available such as the use of medical marijuana

  • What happens after beating cancer

Understanding Cancer – Diagnosis & Treatment

Cancer is almost always diagnosed by a healthcare professional after blood is taken and it is determined one has cancer based on what is found in the blood.  Sometimes DNA, RNA or proteins in the cell can confirm one has cancer.  Another way to determine is to test a piece of the body for example if there is a marking or lump on or in the body, a doctor can take a sample and test it.  Here they can determine if it is cancerous.  Not all lumps are cancer but to be safe, be sure to see a physician and get a second opinion.  After being diagnosed correctly, your physcian will review the different types of treatment available for you.  Perhaps they may mention treating with medical marijuana and possible some other treatments that are more traditional may be one or more of the following:

  • Chemotherapy
  • Surgery
  • Radiation
  • Immunotherapy
  • Stem Cell Transplant
  • Laser Treatments
  • Hyperthermia
  • Photodynamic Therapy
  • Blood Transfusion

No matter what treatment your physician prescribes, don’t be afraid to let them know or just simply go without discussing to another physician and get a second opinion.  Sometimes, you may also want more, but know that it’s important to find the physician that can best help you to accomplish your goal.
